On Wednesday IDW launches a brand new mini-series that takes us back to the 1970s with Star Trek: The Motion Picture – Echoes. The five-issue series is set immediately after the events of the movie and it’s written by Marc Guggenheim, creator of the Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow CW television series. Echoes features artwork by Oleg Chudakov and colors by DC Alonso, along with a series of different covers for each issue. We have details, covers and a 5-page preview.

Synopsis:

But the strangers from another universe are more familiar than they assume for underneath their helmets are their doppelgangers from an alternate reality!

This series is actually looking great!! Don’t know why need mirror characters all the time, but reading the teasers and I want to know what’s going down!! And the TMP Enterprise looks great!
Just to be clear, this story does not involve the mirror universe.

I always hated those TMP uniforms. They looked like surgical gowns ;)

This is a minority opinion, I know, but TMP was the best of the films. I will die on that hill.

It is the one that seems the most realistic and futuristic. I have a huge love for it.
Honestly, it is the film that actually made me a True Trekkie. Before watching TMP I was more of a Star Wars fan and wasn’t really aware of the fact that Science-fiction stories could be so bold and visually grand as TMP. I thought they were basically shoot em ups in space. TMP made me look at whole science-fiction in a different way and in fact made me a bigger science-fiction fan of more cerebral and grand stories.
Why are they calling him Captain Kirk, not Admiral?
