Next month brings Comic-Con@Home, as San Diego Comic-Con is going virtual with a remote convention for the second year in a row. But even if there isn’t going to be an in-person convention and vendor hall that doesn’t mean there won’t be exclusive merchandise and the first Star Trek exclusive for the event was just announced by Hallmark.
Hallmark’s Bird of Prey is first 2021 event exclusive
Today Hallmark announced a number of PopMinded exclusive collectibles for 2021 events. This year they are offering exclusive ornaments and plush collectibles for Super Mario, Star Wars, Ghostbusters, Marvel, and Star Trek.
Star Trek Klingon Bird of Prey Hallmark Keepsake Ornament is a celebration of the 35th anniversary of Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home in 1986. This metal Keepsake Ornament features the HMS Bounty paint stylings as seen in the film. The ornament is priced at $35 with a total production run of 3,750.
Hallmark has released a Klingon Bird of Prey ornament before but in plastic. And the 2021 ornament is also the first to have the “HMS Bounty” markings from Star Trek IV. While this marking can’t be seen in the preview image above, it is shown off in the video below promoting all of this year’s PopMinded exclusives.
The Hallmark 2021 exclusives will be sold in limited quantities online only in conjunction with Comic-Con@Home (July 23-25) and New York Comic Con (October 7-10). They will be sold on a first-come basis starting at Noon Eastern time (9 a.m. Pacific time) on the first day of each convention. Allotments will be divided evenly between the two conventions. Hallmark also says to expect the PopMinded convention shop to return in-person, to a full line-up of events in 2022.

Oh, how I HATE HATE HATE HATE these “convention exclusives.” It’s why I’m no longer a “collect ’em all” collector with the Hallmark ornaments for Star Trek and Star Wars. Hallmark would make more sales in volume if they increased the production run and made these product accessible to all the fans who would actually like to be able to purchase them from Hallmark … without having to pay jacked-up prices by eBay scalpers. Maybe put these things in a “special collectors box” as the convention exclusives, but at least make the actual product available to all the fans out there.

They stopped being convention exclusives the second they were easily available online years ago,it’s why they changed the name to event exclusives. I hate the whole exclusive thing too,always have,but at least they’re available to anyone who wants to try and get them.
It does get a bit frustrating for these CON/Event only, exclusive, one time products. I would say that it makes sense to put more on the mass market so more can enjoy it or have it as you would think a company wants to sell as many as they can. After all, how many people at these events buy them?? But what really burns me up is when you have those who attend these events and manage to buy several of these things only to sell their over-purchases on Ebay at a highly inflated price.
Whoever did the art of the bridge and the Klingon ship apparently did not bother watching the movie they were promoting…
Movie posters don’t always replicate scenes precisely from the movie, just the spirit of the movie. That’s enough.
Movie posters were made with the barest of info, which is how we have the enterprise firing on regula one on the original wrath of kahn poster. Bob Peak was a master and his streak of Star Trek film posters was only broken after 5 films because of his death. His (this) poster for the voyage home is a masterpiece and one of his all time greats.
I’d prefer a remastered version of the film but maybe that is just me. None of the films except for Khan has been remastered for Blu-Ray, and 4K UHD disc. And Khan still hasn’t been released on a physical 4K disc.
Totally agree. Take a look at “The Digital Bits” website who recently commented on Blu-ray remasters of the films being scheduled for release in France. The advert was later pulled however, it is surmised that a proper HD release of the films might not be too far away.
